making-no experience needed!
Create & Print in 3D ($10) – Innovation Lab, 11:30-12:15
Bring your ideas to life in this beginner-friendly 3D modeling workshop. Using TinkerCAD, you’ll design your
own unique 3D object and learn the basics of digital design. After the session, we’ll print your creation and
send it to you. This workshop is open to all visitors with basic computer skills-no design experience required.
Create a Circuit (Free) – Multipurpose Room, 11:30-12:15
Get hands-on with electricity in this beginner-friendly circuits workshop! Explore how circuits work as you
build your own using simple materials like batteries, wires, lights, and switches. Whether you’re lighting up an
LED or designing a basic pathway, you’ll discover the building blocks behind how electronic devices work.
Great for curious minds of all ages-no experience necessary!
Soldering with FIRST Robotics Teams (Free) – Innovation Lab, 1:00-1:55
Learn the basics of soldering in this hands-on workshop led by members of Team Neutrino and Team Photon
from the FIRST Robotics Club in Ames. Using soldering irons, participants will assemble a custom LED pin
that really lights up-and you can wear it home! No prior experience is required; safety and step-by-step
guidance will be provided throughout the activity.
Origami with JASI (Free) – Multipurpose Room, 1:00-1:55
Join the Japan America Society of Iowa (JASI) for a special origami workshop celebrating community and
connection. Learn to fold paper cranes as part of the Cranes of Friendship Project, a statewide effort to fold
